Rod MacDonald: Profile & Bibiography

Rod MacDonald

Rod Macdonald has been diving for 25 years almost exclusively researching, tracking and identifying lost or forgotten shipwrecks. During that time there has however been the odd special scenic dive - such as a dive into the Corrywrecken Whirlpool - the 3rd largest in the world - for an Equinox TV programme.

Rod is the author of the bestselling Mainstream titles Dive Scapa Flow, now in its 4th edition, Dive Scotland's Greatest Wrecks, now in its second edition, Dive England's Greatest Wrecks and Into the Abyss - Diving to Adventure in the Liquid World

He has also contributed to most national dive magazines and news papers and was the "talking head" for the Timewatch programme The Death of the Battleship, charting the loss of HMS Repulse and HMS Prince of Wales 200 miles north of Singapore during WWII. This was the first time a battleship had been successfully sunk in action by air attack and the loss of Prince of Wales is seen as the defining moment for the end of the battleship and ushered in the era of air power at sea.

Rod is a crewman on the Stonehaven MRI Lifeboat.
