Good morning Mr Williams,

My name is Peter S. Lewis. Andy Thompson and I have been developing a series of websites under the RailTubeNetwork banner. Our flagship site is www.steamtu.be...sites where members (243 around the world since we started out in January 2009 ) can upload their own photos and videos...and comments. We are building quite a resource...4,000 plus photos and almost 1,000 videos.

Additionally, we have a monthly online magazine "On Shed" where the best uploads and interesting features appear (purely subjective, of course!) We are pleased to include Christian Wolmar and Adrian Vaughan amongst our members, and benefit from their observations and occasional articles. Douglas Rogers kindly allowed use of his "The Rail Thing"- a piece on American rail travel. Our current page vew for the network approaches 50,000 per month...not exactly Youtube...but growing!.

Would it be possible to include your recent piece in our next edition? (With full credit, naturally!)

I shall await your kind response.

    Best regards,

Peter S.Lewis (www.steamtu.be) On Shed editor.

I shall be delighted if you add the link to my Daily Mail article on your website. You might be interested to know that I have started work on the sequel, The Slow Train Again. commissioned by Random House. Yesterday, for the new book, I travelled on the Brockenhurst to Lymington line, where the last of the slam door trains are about to come out of service. The BR green CIG unit I rode on was built in the very same year that Flanders and Swann wrote Slow train and Dr Beeching published his infamous report. End of an era indeed!

        Hello Mr Williams,

I apolgize for delay in replying to your kind reply. We are pleased to include a link to your Daily Mail article.

In due course we shall look forward to your new book... Perhaps you would allow us to do a review for our 25,000 plus page views per month site?

How did your trip on the last Slam door train go? Did it feel like the end of an era?

        Kind regards,

        Peter S.Lewis
