Rail electrication and the Varsity Line – a hidden treasure

One of the hidden treasures contained in the government's electrification announcement today is the reopening of the Oxford to Cambridge line. I "discovered" this fascintaing backwater in my recent book "On The Slow Train", nominating it as one of the best train journeys in Britain. Among other things, it was a favourite of Lord of the Rings author J.R.R. Tolkien! http://amzn.to/NCG8JL
