And Anouchka's back at school - or rather, college - which supposedly means that I have more time. According to the law of reverse time management, however, this simply means a lot more to do, including; proofing and copy-editing Blueeyedboy; getting back to Runelight and finally trying to tidy out the bookroom, where five years' worth of books (sent to me for blurbs, awards and review) have been waiting to be ferried to Oxfam.
Plus, my latest stained-glass project is now complete and in place - thanks to Paul and Dan - and looks amazing.

I'm in Woodstock the week after next - check out the website at: http://www.blenheimpalace.com/whatson/view.htm?id=563  - I hope to see some of you there...

Quick - to the batcave! http://authorsplace.co.uk/joanne-harris/blog/quick-to-the-batcave/ Tue, 11 Aug 2009 +0000 http://authorsplace.co.uk/joanne-harris/blog/quick-to-the-batcave

It's nice to be at home for a while. I seem to have spent the past month or so in a different dimension, where time moves faster and where things happen much, much faster than everywhere else. I did manage to get a holiday with Anouchka to Hawaii, where we went parasailing,  surfing with off-duty firemen (how surreal is that?) and snorkelling (watch out for a book on Hawaii next).

The rest of the time has been spent trying to tidy up the final draft of Blueeyedboy and working on ideas for the book jacket - since losing Stuart Haygarth a couple of years ago, the art department has found it hard to find something that really works, so they've asked Jeff Cottenden (see his site here)

- to give the backlist a new look.

Now everyone who complained to me that their hardbacks don't match any more can all go out and buy a new set...

Thank you... http://authorsplace.co.uk/joanne-harris/blog/thank-you/ Sat, 04 Jul 2009 +0000 http://authorsplace.co.uk/joanne-harris/blog/thank-you

...for all your birthday greetings and kind messages of support. I had a really good time - Kevin came down from home to see me and we had pink champagne at Fortnum and Mason's before going with Marianne to see the fantastic War Horse at Drury Lane.

As you can tell, I'm in London right now - Anouchka is doing her work experience at Transworld, and is having a terrific time reading manuscripts, going to acquisition meetings and struggling through the Tube every morning at rush hour.

As for myself, I'm trying to keep cool whilst anxiously awaiting my editor's response to the latest version of Blueeyedboy, which I finally delivered last week. It's like waiting for homework to be marked...
