'Christopher Fowler is an award-winning novelist who would make a good serial killer. He's charming and English and lives in a glass box with a view of St Paul's Cathedral, and you'd think butter wouldn't melt in his mouth until you read his outrageously dark urban fiction. He has written over thirty books, mainly comprising novels and volumes of short stories. He lives in King’s Cross, London. His work divides into black comedy, horror, satire, mystery and a set of tales unclassifiable enough to have publishers tearing their hair out.'
Christopher Fowler was born in Greenwich 1953. His first thriller was the bestseller ‘Roofworld’. Subsequent books include ‘Spanky’, ‘Psychoville’ and ‘Calabash’. He is now writing the Bryant & May series, classic mystery novels featuring two elderly, argumentative detectives.
Christopher co-founded Creative Partnership, a company that creates movie posters, trailers and documentaries. A self-confessed film-obsessive, he worked in the movie industry for over 30 years, largely marketing specialist films like ‘The Cook, The Thief, His Wife And Her Lover’, ‘Reservoir Dogs’, ‘Trainspotting’, ‘Moulin Rouge’ and the Mike Leigh films. He has written comedy and drama for BBC radio. He has a column in the Independent on Sunday, and has written articles and columns for The Times, Time Out, Black Static, Smoke, Pure, Dazed And Confused, Big Issue and many others, including Radio One’s first-ever broadcast drama in 2005.
His short stories have appeared in The Time Out Book Of London Short Stories, The New English Library Book Of Internet Stories, Dark Terrors, Best New Horror, London Noir, Neon Lit, Cinema Macabre, Best British Mysteries, Summer Chills, Inferno and many others.
His graphic novel for DC Comics was the critically acclaimed ‘Menz Insana’. His short story ‘The Master Builder’ became a CBS feature movie entitled ‘Through The Eyes Of A Killer’, starring Tippi Hedren and Marg Helgenberger. His filmed short stories include: ‘Left Hand Drive’, ‘On Edge’, ‘Perfect Casting’, ‘The Most Boring Woman In The World’ and ‘Rainy Day Boys’.
